Funky Wreath

Christmas is coming and I decided that this year I was actually going to make one of the Christmas things I've bought instead of piling them up with the rest of my stash.  I actually made this one twice as I stuffed up the first one by putting too much Stickles on and once it's on, it doesn't come off!  I tried scraping it off gently, but it was far easier to pull the whole thing apart and start again.  I'm happier with it second time around anyway!

Materials used:- Kaisercraft Funky Wreath, Making Memories Noel paper, Prima Flower, Glimmermist, idea-ology Key, Chain, Charms, Rub-ons & Rock Candy Crackle Paint.

The Flower has been sprayed with Glimmermist and the Birds have been covered with Rock Candy Crackle Paint.  Rock Candy crackles differently to regular Crackle Paint and is great for use over pattern papers.

Howz This?

We are incredibly lucky with the variety, quantity and beauty of the birds that visit our garden.  Our most beautiful are the Red Wing Parrots.  The most I've counted in the yard at one time is 23 and currently a family of babies has been introduced to our yard.  We have feeders to encourage them in, but we try not to have so much food out that they forget how to feed themselves from nature!  Red Wings are meant to be shy, but they're reasonably used to us, however they do usually fly away when we get too close.  This one decided go stay as I approached and stood there posing for me.  I'm sure she was either saying, "bugger off" or "howz this?"  I chose to think she was posing for me rather than trying to get me to go away!

Materials used:  BoBunny Sun Kissed papers, Bella Glittered Chipboard Alphas, Kaisercraft Mini Alphas, ribbon, Green Tara Flower, Tim Holtz idea-ology paper clip and Adage Ticket, button & bird charm.

Extra Special Visitor

For all you wildlife fans, we've been having a very special visitor in our garden during the last month and a bit. A Gouldian Finch. For those of you who don't know, the Gouldian Finch is very rare and is almost impossible to find in the wild. This little finch has joined the feeding frenzy in our yard and we feel very privileged to have her join us. The Mareeba Wetlands has a breeding programme for these special little birds and were excited when I sent them some photos. As she doesn't have a tag, we're assuming she's a wild one which makes this even more special. The photos are a little blurry, but who cares???

The 2 flowers were made using the Tim Holtz Sizzix Paper Rosette Strip Die. It was so simple and fun to use that I was determined I had to put these flowers "somewhere" on the layout.

Materials used - purple cardstock, Fancy Pants Lilac House pattern papers, Bella Birds & Birdcages felt icons, Basic Grey Alpha Stickers, Rub-ons, Charms, May Arts Celery Faux Suede with Ruffle Trim and Kaiser Bird Wood Flourishes.  For the scalloped die-cut pattern paper, I used a template to trace the scallops and then cut them out.  A very simple layout, but I didn't want to over-do it when the subject itself is so pretty!
